Seattle Mariners is a baseball club from Washington (the state). They are one of the relatively newer clubs to play in MLB. In this organization, they compete within the West Division of AL and show rather good results. They are counted as one of the best on the West Coast, alongside Astros, Athletics & Angels.

Who owns Seattle Mariners? The team is managed by the Baseball Club of Seattle Company. Until 2016, Nintendo had a majority stake in it.

History Logo

Seattle Mariners Logo history

The team was created in 1977 in Seattle, Washington. The name reflects the city’s position as major port, boringly enough. What’s more interesting is that they use the state’s and city’s colors as part of their branding and their uniforms. Turquoise and green aren’t used too often, but often enough.

1977 – 1981

Seattle Mariners Logo 1977

The 1977 logo used a yellow circle with a blue outline to store the emblem proper. Inside, they wrote the club’s name in soft, blue letters, followed by a small inscription saying ‘baseball club’. Notably, they turned the ‘M’ in the ‘Marines’ into a trident with a little handle sticking out to the top.

1981 – 1987

In 1981, they decided to use the trident more extensively. They basically made it bigger, thicker and gave it perspective. It was dark blue and had a thin yellow outline. Right behind it, they also placed a white star with a blue frame.

1987 – 1993

The 1987 emblem took another approach. It was a usual baseball, except with all blue lines. On it, there was a big inscription saying ‘M’s’ (for ‘Mariners’). It was also blue, but had a yellow outline.

1993 – today

In 1993, they rolled out a by far the most complex logo yet. It was a compass with a blue outer layer, white center and four green-with-grey arrows. Directly behind it, there was also a usual red-stitched baseball with four more, tiny arrows. Along the blue edge, the team’s name was written in tall white letters.

Helmet History

Seattle Mariners Halmet

Mariners have a good variety of helmets. Some of the more popular are black, dark blue, brown, grey and green-visor blue. Black ones are by far the most common, and the rest are either adopted as an experiment for a season or kept as alternatives. The latter-most is one of the most continuous alts.

Uniform History

Most Mariners uniforms are white with green, yellow or blue details. Alternatives and rarer home/away variations include, in particular, turquoise and dark blue jerseys. Some even rarer designs include green jerseys and blue pants. Generally, white uniforms are used normally in most scenarios.
