Tennessee Titans are the football franchise from Nashville, United States. They play in the American NFL as the part of the South division of the American Football Conference (AFL). The franchise can’t impress us with its awards, though it was the first champion in the AFL, winning the 1961 and 1960 contests.

Who owns Tennessee Titans? The team is owned by Amy Strunk. Prior to her, it belonged to Kenneth Adams Jr. for a long time.

Tennessee Titans Logo history

The club was formed in the year 1959 as the Houston Oilers. After the relocation to Memphis, Tennessee and later to Nashville, the franchise was rebranded as Titans. This name came from the Nashville’s nickname ‘The South Athens’. It’s not clear why the managers chose the name ‘Titans’, but it was adopted by both the public and members, so it stayed.

1959 – 1961

The original club logo featured the team player on the background of the oil pumps. He held the oval ball and wore the blue uniform with the yellow hat and shoes. On the jersey, there was the name and the player number.

1961 – 1968

The 1968 logotype represented mostly the same picture as the previous logo, but that time all the yellow shades were changed by the white colors. The player’s hat was removed, and the working helmet was drawn instead of it. The background of the petrol pumps gained a bit renovated version as well.

1968 – 1971

The 1968 version of the brand mark used the new graphics. The only elements, featured on the logotype, were the monochrome football player’s helmet and the oil tower, drawn on its side and depicted in the strict white and black lines.

1971 – 1979

As the time passed, they decided to add some bright shades to the logo: all the black lines of the player’s helmet became blue, and the tower gained another form: it had the elongated and narrowed style, with another construction and the red-blue & white color palette.

1979 – 1998

The logo brought by the team designers in the year 1979 shown only the oil tower, with no other elements from the former logotype. Although its structure didn’t get many modifications, the tower now looked fresh due to the new bright-blue color and the red outer outline.

1998 – today

With the relocation and renaming of the team, designers had to make a new style for the logo. It consists of a blue circle with the white contour, and the three stars inside it. All this derives to the state’s Tennessee flag. Also, we can mention the first letter of the team name in the circle and the flames that make the whole logo look like the comet.

Helmet History

Tennessee Titans Helmet

The original team helmets had the bright blue color palette and the image of oil tower featured on them. As the time passed, the team designers modified the helmet form-factor and its color to gray or blue, as well as added the thin lines on the helmet. The recent versions have the full-white palette and the club insignia on the side.

Uniform History

Later on, the uniform style was changed from white to gray and blue. The latest wears of the team have the dark-blue pants and the white jerseys, with some strips of different colors.
